The Salvation Army - Metro Division Administrative Assistant/Caseworker in Vincennes, Indiana

Overview

Oversee clerical and social services responsibilities for the Corps

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties maintaining confidentiality• Answer phone providing information about Salvation Army resources and programs, provide referrals to other organizations in Knox County, schedule social service appointments, take and disperse messages• Oversee all office operations per Officer guidelines when the Officer is away from the office• Complete correspondence as directed• Maintain files for the office and social services clients in a neat, orderly fashion• Meet with those seeking assistance to determine needs, develop plans, provide resources, etc. per Salvation Army and/or funder guidelines; meetings may be in person or virtual• Work with Corps Officer and Regional Coordinator to administer Pathway of Hope• Document encounters with social services clients per Salvation Army and funder guidelines electronically or hard copy as required (SIMS and Charity Tracker)• Participate in community meetings and trainings as directed by the Corps Officer• Assist with seasonal and special events as requested; seasonal events may include, but are not limited to, Christmas assistance, back-to-school programs, Red Kettle Campaign, etc.• Provide oversite to the Food Pantry per Salvation Army and/or donor guidelines, including recruiting and training volunteers, coordinating food pick ups, ensuring a well-stocked and organized pantry, etc.• Complete statistical reports and submit to the Corps Officer as directed• Complete and submit monthly reports for Feeding America, copying the Corps Officer

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma required, Associate’s Degree preferred

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed; findings may disqualify an individual for this position

Experience: Two years’ experience in an office and/or social Social services experience strongly preferredCertifications: Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; complete caseworker certification program is required

Skills/Abilities: Ability to diffuse tense situations and to multitask needed as are computer skills, including utilization of Excel, Word, and The Salvation Army’s Information Management System (SIMS) required
