Task Force Tips, Inc. Toolmaker in Valparaiso, Indiana

Task Force Tips, LLC a worldwide leader in firefighting equipment manufacturing, is seeking a full-time Toolmaker. Toolmaker is a project based position and is responsible for designing, constructing and maintaining injection molds, fixtures, custom gaging, tools, automation and prototypes in support of manufacturing operations of Task Force Tips. Applicant works closely with engineering to offer suggestions/modifications to prototype parts to improve machinability and efficiency in the manufacturing process. Applicant uses experience and cross functional skills to train/mentor Tool Room Machinist, Tool Room Machinist Assistants and Apprentices. Shift is M-F, 8:00AM to 4:00PM.Position Requirements:Minimum 5 years experience is required. Certification of four-year apprenticeship in the machine trades is preferred.Possess required skills to conceive, design and build a variety of specialized tools, fixtures, injection molds and automation equipment facilitate the manufacturing of Task Force Tips products. Creates and maintains digital part prints, tool prints, CNC programs, instructions and machine maintenance records for such equipment.Proficiency in setting up, operating and programing CNC equipment including CNC mills and Lathes is required. Wire and Sinker EDM experience is a plus.Proficiency in CAD/CAM software is required. Solidworks and Esprit software experience is a plusAbility to read and interpret prints, sketches, specifications, technical manuals, instruments, gauges and dials. GDandT tolerance experience is a plus.Ability to physically and safely operate various industrial machines, equipment and hand tools, including micrometers, indicators, gauging equipment, drill press, manual milling machines, manual lathes, surface grinders, welding equipment, band saws, overhead cranes and fork trucks.Working knowledge and/or experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and programming PLCs is a plus.Experience in maintaining plastic and rubber injection molds is a plus. This includes disassembly, cleaning, polishing and repair.Ability to count and make simple arithmetic additions and subtractions, use practical shop mathematics and computer and calculate results of tests.Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum supervision.Ability to work rapidly for long periods, work on several tasks at the same time with frequent interruptions, often under time pressure.Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions and plan and lay out assigned work projects.Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with other company personnel and vendors, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of OSHA and company safety precautions and procedures.Ability to occasionally work extended, evening and/or weekend hours and occasionally travel out of town, including overnight.
