SUMMARY : Assists the production line where needed including, but not limited to, machine operation, quality verification, packaging, housekeeping & forklift operation. Starting rate of pay is $21.80 an hour, increasing to $26.18 an hour after six months.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Time management and communication skills are a must. Inspect and install film rolls & make film splices according to standard operating procedure. Assist in web breaks, lacing machine and product changes. Troubleshoot/diagnose machine issues and take corrective action with guidance of the Group Lead. Maintains work area in neat and orderly condition per housekeeping procedures for the department. Operates forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Operate packaging equipment and install packaging materials in compliance with standard operating procedures. Complete product testing in accordance with product specification. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additionally, a high degree of quality knowledge of each product made to be able to make decisions on the quality of those products. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
SCHEDULE: The production schedules are determined by business demand. We are currently operating on a 4-shift rotation. Employees are normally scheduled 8 hour shifts, rotating from days to evening to nights, every seven days. Holidays, weekends and overtime may be required. Modbit employees may have an average of seven days off a month.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE : High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in manufacturing concepts and safety practices and procedures is preferred. Positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to a continuous improvement environment is critical. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; to raise and lower objects without mechanical aids; to extend hands and arms in any direction to reach, push, or pull objects; to bend at the knees and at the waist; and to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to be able to stand for long periods of time, to walk, to have the ability to balance when assisting in the lace-up of the machine and to climb industrial ladders and use catwalks and stairs in the work area. The employee must have the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Product & raw materials in excess of 50 lbs. must be moved with two employees. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to wear and use required safety equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toe safety shoes, hearing protection, head protection, and gloves.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee occasionally works in high places when assisting with lace-ups and above the floor level on catwalks and/or stairs, and is exposed seasonally to hot and cold weather. The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection. Must have ability to work in the U.S. without current/future need for GAF sponsorship.
