SUMMARY: Assists the production line where needed including, but not limited to, machine operation, quality verification, packaging, housekeeping & forklift operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect and install film rolls & make film splices according to standard operating procedure.

  • Assist in sheet breaks, threading machine and product changes.

  • Maintains work area in neat and orderly condition per housekeeping procedures for the department

  • Operates forklift in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Place cores and operate boxer in compliance with standard operating procedures

  • Complete product testing in accordance with product specification

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

SCHEDULE: The production schedules are determined by business demand. Employees are normally scheduled 8 hour shifts, rotating from days to evening to nights every week. Holidays, weekends and overtime may be required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Experience in manufacturing concepts and safety practices and procedures is preferred. Positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to a continuous improvement environment is critical.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; to raise and lower objects without mechanical aids; to extend hands and arms in any direction to reach, push or pull objects; to bend at the knees and at the waist; and to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to be able to stand for long periods of time, to walk, to have the ability to balance when assisting in the thread-up of the machine and to climb industrial ladders and use catwalks and stairs in the work area. The employee must have the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally move up to 80 lbs. Product & raw materials in excess of 50 lbs. must be moved with two employees. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to wear and use required safety equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toe safety shoes, hearing protection, head protection, and gloves.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee occasionally works in high places when assisting with thread-ups and above the floor level on catwalks and/or stairs, and is exposed seasonally to hot and cold weather. The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection.

WAGES: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package including 401(k), medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, tuition reimbursement, and a vacation package. At GAF, we believe our employees are our greatest resource. Production Operators are offering a salary starting at $19.42/hour with an increase to $23.32/hour after the completion of six months.

Must have ability to work in the U.S. without current/future need for GAF visa sponsorship.
