Under general supervision an according to established policy and procedures, set-up and operate various sizes and types of machines automatically shaping parts to blueprint specifications and set-up charts. Complies with all safety rules. Maintain clean equipment .
Essential Job Functions
Operator punch press
Reads measuring equipment: micrometers, calipers and such
Performs adjustment and replacement to maintain a quality product
Complete all die setups in the press.
Load the steel, moves scrap, and finished parts from machinery
Operates PIV to deliver tubs and raw material to machinery
Utilize crane to move steel throughout the department
Operates die cart to load/unload and transport dies
Maintain housekeeping standards
Ability to work overtime as needed
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Essential Skills & Experience
High School Diploma or GED preferred
General mechanical knowledge and ability
Drive and operate a forklift
Operate overhead cranes
Read and understand blueprints
Competencies (5-10 Critical Areas of Understanding/Practice for the role)
Basic mathematical understanding and ability (add, subtract, divide units of measurement)
Common sense understanding to carry out work instructions
Good communication skills, verbal and written
Able to write a simple sentence to provide information
Basic computer knowledge and the ability to find information and enter data
Analytical skills necessary to evaluate and solve die and press problems to run quality parts
Walking, standing and moving for 8-hour shift
Use of hands, arms and fingers regularly, pushing and pulling regularly
Bending, reaching and climbing occasionally
Use of eyes for visual inspection of parts
Lifting heavy material up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 80 pounds, assisted lift for weight over 35lbs
Personal Protective Equipment
Leather Gloves when handling banding
Cut resistant gloves when handling steel and sharp parts
Safety shoes – slip resistant and safety toe
Hard hat when operating the crane
Face Shield when blowing out equipment
Other additional PPE may be required when operating machinery or using chemicals.
Inside production facility, the temperature fluctuates dependent on season. Noise levels require hearing protection. Working around powered industrial vehicles. Production floor can become slippery with oil. Working with and around chemicals and oils.
