Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Site Director, the Activity Leader I is responsible for the care of the children in the Before & After School program, assists the Site Director in the implementation of programming, and interacts positively with parents and school personnel to develop a trusting relationship. The Activity Leader I fosters social, physical, spiritual and mental growth and demonstrates the core values of caring, honesty, responsibility with program participants. The candidate may provide leadership in the absence of the Site Director or Assistant Site Director. A typical Before & After School program runs from 6:30-8:30am and from 3:30-6:00pm, Monday through Friday. However, flexibility may be available to accommodate staff schedules.

Minimum Requirements

Experience working with youth is preferred. A minimum of 18 years of age is required and high school diploma, or its equivalent required. Passionate about working with pre-school age children with the ability to interact and communicate effectively. Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and YMCA staff. Must maintain current certifications in Heartsaver CPR, First Aid, Safety & Risk Management, Child Abuse Prevention and New Employee Orientation or the ability to obtain within 60-90 days of employment. Supervisory and administrative skills including ability to supervise program participants and maintain required program documentation and records.
