3M is seeking a Systems Technician for the IBG/IATD/Plant Engineering Maintenance department located in Hartford City, Indiana. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.
The person hired for the position of Systems Technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating and making adjustments to electrical, electronic, and pneumatic process control systems and devices used in production, laboratory, office and utility areas.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Install, troubleshoot and repair:
A wide variety of process sensing devices (humidity, speed, vacuum, pressure, level, weight, tension, flow, viscosity, etc.)
Entire industrial process control systems. This includes electronic, digital, analog, pneumatic, and mechanical control systems
Electrical and pneumatic components on standalone production equipment.
Both AC and DC motors and drive systems from .25 – 300Hp
Make PLC programming changes, back up electronic files and update blueprints as changes have been made
Read and work to the indicated accuracy, specifications, and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, equipment manuals, etc.
Set up, operate, and read precision testing and measuring instruments to the manufacturer’s specifications of accuracy
Work from both written and verbal instructions with cross functional teams, including engineering groups, manufacturing groups, vendors, etc.
Contact vendors and fill out purchase requisitions to order parts as needed.
Complete required shop paperwork and use work order reporting system
Recommend changes to PM procedures and or frequencies on existing equipment if the equipment is modified, the PM is incorrect or customer requirements change
Participate in safety meetings as required and Incident Investigation Teams when requested
Report unsafe work conditions or equipment operation to supervisor immediately. Report any observed unsafe act or non-compliant work activity to supervisor immediately
Observe and follow 3M safety rules and 3M Guide to Conduct
Perform other duties as required by supervision
This position may require:
Working on holidays as needed
Short notice shift coverage
Working a three crew or four crew schedule
Occasional physical demands including:
Lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted
Climbing ladders or stairs
Outside work during inclement conditions
Any one of the following combinations of experience and education from an accredited institution:
Two (2) year technical degree in an industrial/electrical controls technology field
High School Diploma/GED or higher AND completed an apprenticeship program in an electrical field
High School Diploma/GED or higher AND a minimum five (5) years of private, public, government, or military production experience
Minimum three (3) years of experience as an Electrical Technician in an industrial setting
Experience in programmable logic controllers, AC&DC drive controls. Pneumatic, analog and digital electronics, including computer/microprocessor based control systems.
Skill in operation and use of hand tools, electric powered hand tools, and machine tools and a variety of testing equipment; reading and interpreting measuring systems; operating shop equipment; troubleshooting equipment.
Basic mathematics and basic computer skills
