The primary responsibility of the Senior Hardware Engineer is to work with a small team of engineers to develop new products and make improvements to existing product hardware. The position of Senior Hardware Engineer has the unique opportunity and responsibility to provide technical leadership and innovation to craft simple, elegant solutions to complex embedded sensing and security control challenges. As such, this position requires an experienced professional with extensive experience in producing high-quality, robust, embedded hardware solutions.

This candidate should have experience implementing best practice methods and techniques for all phases of hardware development, testing, documentation, version control and maintenance. The successful candidate will also have experience working with a small team of hardware engineers (2-5 people).

Job Summary:

This individual is a seasoned hardware engineer experienced in low power wireless, microcontrollers and hardware, who is looking to serve a key role on a highly driven team, and who can also work independently to meet project timelines and deliverables. ​ Candidates must comprehend the importance of delivering a successful product on time and of getting a product out on the market as soon as possible. ​

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • BS, MS or higher degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical product design and manufacturing

  • A demonstrated history of successful product launches

Required Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Microcontroller Hardware and Hardware Design

  • Wireless & battery powered hardware

  • Analog & Digital Circuit Design

  • PCB CAD Design, manufacture and assembly

Highly Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Freescale, Microchip PIC, ARM, or Atmel microcontrollers

  • Low Power Wireless technologies and practices; 802.​15.​4, Bluetooth/BLE, Wifi

  • RFID, prox, and smart card technologies

  • Communications Protocols; UART, SPI, I2C, RS232, USB, Ethernet

  • Managing system electrical requirements and evaluating and mitigating system risks

  • UL/FCC Certification testing

  • Experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or reliability engineering

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Must be a team player with good people, leadership, and mentoring skills.

  • Strong problem solving and creative skills

  • Good organizational skills being able to multitask on multiple development projects

  • Proficiency in engineering computer tools used for design analysis and verification required
