The Wellness Coach III is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety of YMCA members utilizing the strength and cardiorespitory areas. The Wellness Coach III will be instrumental in the overall shift toward an exercise support emphasis and will conduct interviews with potential new members and follow-up with those who join as YMCA members. The Wellness Coach III will be responsible for members on the Coach Approach process, including working one-on-one with members through wellness programs, as well as the follow-up of those members. Coaches will insure proper use of the equipment while maintaining a safe and motivating environment for members. The Wellness Coach III may also be asked to train/mentor new Wellness Coach I or II employees.

Minimum Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age and have knowledge of basic exercise science, and biomechanics. Prior (1-2 years) strength/conditioning experience is required (3+ years preferred). Must have highs school diploma (a BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent experience). Must have skills in one-on-one wellness coaching/assessments, one-on-one instruction and communication/human relations in order to perform successfully in this role. Must have a basic understanding of computer hardware and software is required. Administrative skills needed including organizational skills, scheduling, statistical reporting and record keeping skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information of members.

Position requires current certifications in CPR AED, First Aid, Safety & Risk Management, New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, YMCA Healthy Lifestyles, Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and Coach Approach. Other acceptable certifications encouraged include (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA). Maintain continuing education credits and other requirements to keep all certifications current.
